1.Pick a song. Could be any song, one chosen from shuffle or your favorite.

2.Find the lyrics of the song and think about them a bit. If the song doesn't have lyrics, think about what it conveys. Note: Feel free to chose a song that's not serious. Crack songs work well too.

3.Thought about the song? Good. You now have three options.

a.Create a character.

This song is to be their anthem. Make their entire being centered around this song, the words describing them and defining them. This can be concrete or abstract, silly or serious. Be as literal or as symbolic as you feel like being. Bonus points for drawing them.

b.Write

Write a story, a poem, anything around this song. Again, be concrete or abstract, silly or serious, literal or symbolic. Act out the song in the story, let a of lyrics dominate the idea, anything. Bonus points if you write a story where the song can be heard by the characters.

c.Draw/Paint/Make

Draw/paint/create a piece of art that is centered on the song. Concrete or abstract, silly or serious, literal or symbolic, you know the drill. Take a phrase, take an emotion, take a situation, take anything you will out of the song you chose and create something new. Bonus points for incorporating a piece of text.


This was mainly written because I couldn't think of anything to write, and no one was handing out any inspiring prompts. This is a method of creating that's used often, by pretty much everyone. I simply felt like writing it down.
